Using Genesis Featured Page Widget Instead of Content in (Another) Page

Rather than try to cut and paste content from one page to another (for, say, an index/overview page), I’m using the Genesis Featured Widget to just pull parts of a page into a widgetized area. It helps make the formatting easier, uses the featured image, and pulls in content automatically. With a few bonus items that the widget provides e.g. Read More, content limits, etc.

    Another nice lesson.

Question: I have site i am using the feature post on for specific category on home page. However the category appears in the homepage latest post loop as the default should. But how can you exclude a category from that loop? Seems simple but my research has turned up very little. Any ideas for excluding a category from ” latest post” loop?

Aha, now you’re getting into trickier conditional code. I see some solutions here.
