WOO Canvas Header

Text site title, logo graphic, text tagline, navigation, ads, and social media can all go in the header.

The default, out-of-the-box settings for the header are (1) text site name, and (2) tagline.  It’s easy to turn that into a logo (which replaces both the title and the tagline). The right side of the header, again out of the box, is empty. If you’d like advertising in the right side of the header, there’s a module that’s a checkbox away from being activated. Easy. If you’d like more in that right-side header than an ad, then you’ll need to get a little technical, but it was a feature in such demand that we created a solution: see: Adding a widget to the WOO Canvas Header.

Editing the header is a piece of cake. If you know where to go.

Pretty clear, Bradley, thanks. One elementary question: How do you know what the graphic image pixel size should be? In other words, what pixel size is the full-width header, and what size should my header illustration be to fit, whether the full width or some smaller size?

I also would love to see a tutorial on how to have a header on the home page, but on inside pages a narrow vertical illustration in the left column instead of the header. Is that possible, and if so, how? Thanks.

          Hi Larry,
There are several elements to the header: logo or site title in text, regular header or full-width header. I created a new post that goes over options for the header image–including if there’s a tall header image. WOO Canvas Header Height & Width. Hope that helps!

As for your second question, do you mean something more just like a logo? Just an image in the left side of the header? Or maybe you mean an image going from top to bottom (or thereabouts) in the left of the site? More like a sidebar background almost? This one is trickier because (1) it’s a conditional statement (everywhere BUT the home page) and (2) it sounds like it’s probably a background image so it’ll have to be positioned correctly so that the content of the site doesn’t go over it too much. Are there sites where you see this in action? Could you put the links below? Thanks.

Thanks, I’ll check out the post. Re the second question, what she wants to consider is having internal pages appear with a long vertical strip down the length of the screen, about an inch wide and six inches tall (or maybe 1.5 inches or 2 inches wide). I don’t have other sites to show you, and maybe this won’t work, but this is what she’d like to try. No header on those pages, just the left side vertical strip.
