Migrate to GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting in one click

Fill in your WordPress and hosting login information at your current site and let the migration tool do the work.

I figured it was too good to be true as migrating WordPress can sometimes be a huge pain (well, especially if email addresses are involved in the move … but that’s why you’re all set up with email hosted with Google Apps for your domain, right?).

But it truly was one click. I filled out my WordPress login info and my FTP info, clicked submit, waited half an hour and voila, it was migrated and live on the temporary domain!

I then just changed where the domain pointed (even easier if that domain is hosted at the same GoDaddy account) and the site was live and on the new hosting as soon as the DNS propogated … sorry, I just like saying propogated, I don’t even know what it really means … but it’s when the domain knows that it’s living in a new home, that you’ve moved hosts, that the site is live and happily loading on the new servers.

Load times decreased dramatically with the move to GoDaddy's new Managed WordPress hosting.

So now my Repossible site will benefit from:

  • MUCH faster load times
  • Automated backup
  • Automated WordPress core upgrades (but not plugins, which is actually fine by me)
  • One click restore (this is worth it right there–restoring WP can be a mess and time consuming, even with good backup plugins)
  • Redundant firewalls, malware scanning and DDoS protection

Oh, and it’s not expensive. Last I looked, GoDaddy was having some sort of $1/month sale on their Managed WordPress hosting. What do you have to lose?

If you think GoDaddy is all Nascar chicks, those days are over. I’ve found that their products and services have greatly improved over the past few years and I currently host quite a few of even my own sites at GoDaddy. Crazy, I know.

But try it out for yourself, check out the speed, enjoy the security, and call GoDaddy to see if they pick up their phone (they do). I’ve been happy with their service and am surprised when you compare this hosting with some of the big boys of managed WordPress hosting and the price differences. What do you have to lose?

GoDaddy Managed WordPress hosting has their own built-in caching to speed loading times.
